About Us

Hi! I'm Candace. Thanks for your interest in this blog and in us.

I'm just gonna be honest and tell you that I've had the HARDEST time writing this "about us" page. You see, I'm not very good at small talk or introductions, but I'll try and give it my best.

Here's some small details about me:

I'm the happiest when I'm in the mountains. Hiking during the day and sitting around the fire at night. Watching the stars in the sky with my husband's hand around mine, and a grateful prayer in my heart. For me, life doesn't get much better than that.

I dream of being a published author. I have an idea for a novel that's floating around in my head, and I'm just trying to figure out how to put it onto paper to make it come alive.

My guilty pleasure? The Walking Dead! I had an article about zombies published in our local news paper titled, "The Zombie Antidote".

If I could give one piece of advice to a large group of people it would be: live life from a place of love and faith - instead of fear.  Never make life decisions based on fear. Make them base on love. (I'm trying my best to live this way)

This is J.R. - he's my husband and best friend.

We're sharing our lives together, so I write about him quite a bit.

Here's some small details about him:

He's the life of the party and the love of my life.

He can drive anything. Seriously. Trucks, tractors, forklifts, you name it, he can drive it. And he loves to drive all the time: day, night, sun, rain, or snow. The faster the better.  Even though he has a love for anything with wheels, his real dream is in the skies. He hopes to have his private pilot's license one day.

If he could give one piece of advice to a large group of people it would be: Live life with no regrets. He says, "What I mean by that is, base your decisions on what you want your life to be. It may not be the choice that will make you happy in the moment, but it will be the choice that will make you happy in the future - and then don't regret the decision once you've made it."

About Us:

We've been in each other's lives sense June of 2005 (10 years!)

We fell in love in the Wyoming wilderness, under a night-sky of shooting stars. We were young, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

We were married in May of 2011.  We had planned to have an outdoor reception but the week before our wedding it had been raining everyday, I was so worried that we'd have to change our plans and move everything inside.

I woke up the morning of our wedding, rushed to the window and pull back the blinds. There was nothing but sunshine and clear skies. It was a perfect day.

(Even if it had down poured and flash flooded,it still would have been the best day of our lives.)

We honeymooned from Northern California across the Oregon coast and into the Columbia River Gorge.

We loved exploring the Redwood Forest and walking on the Oregon beaches.  (The rain definitely got us there. But it was still amazing.)

If we could share one piece of advice about marriage it would all come down to one word: Give.

Be eager to give as much into the relationship as you hope to receive. And sometimes it will require you to give even more than that. Give your love. Give your time. Give your best self.

Marriage is built from trust, patience, and love. It can be difficult sometimes, but it's always worth it.
